TAG ARCHIVES: makeup
Today I caught up with Tea from The Ladida for High Tea, a chat and a bit of shopping.
I love catching up with friends, especially Beauty Bloggers because I love to know what product they use and recommend and what events they’re attending or going to.
Although there were discounts on all of my purchases today, here’s the damage from today…
There’s a lot of changes that’s happening at Atomic HQ. Not only is there Healthy 2013 in place for the entire year, I’m now enforcing the great Spending Ban 2013.
…And not just any spending ban, but the biggest the world has ever seen!
When I moved into my new place I was confronted with the amount of junk I had stored away in my room. Clothes, makeup, magazines, stationary… stuff! There was a ridiculous amounts of it which I had to throw out because there was so way I could fit it all in my new place.
Even when I had settled in my new home I still culled a lot of stuff post-move. Makeup mostly. Products that I had received yet haven’t used or out of date. There was no chance I was going to get through it all. Not in this lifetime, nor the next three. My makeup drawers were out of control! A ridiculous amount of makeup that is well and truly unhealthy.
So, what I’m going to be doing in 2013 is going on a spending ban. I’m going to do a lot of Project X Pan, using up what makeup and beauty products I already have. I’ve always seem to fail miserably with Project X Pan, so it’ll be a good challenge.
I’m also documenting all of my monthly empties and I’m hoping to see the end of at least six products every month.
The only time I’m ever going to spend money is when I repurchase my holy grail products and ONLY after they’re finished – not before.
Products include: skincare, shampoo/conditioner, soap/body wash and my basic makeup (eyeliner, makeup wipes, etc).
I didn’t realise this before, I don’t actually wear a lot of a makeup. I wear the same makeup look everyday, no matter what occasion – work, a night out or coffee with friends. So the need to have excessive amounts of beauty products and makeup is unnecessary.
This year I will NOT fall for any makeup collections or buy lip balms unless I really need them. (Unless it’s Jack Black, it’s highly unlikely.)
Are you on a spending ban for 2013? What is your plan of attack?
Through my daily beauty blogger reads, I came across the beautiful Stephanie‘s blog that she did AGES ago. I love doing tags like this.
What is your most hated type of make up?
Foundation and that’s because I suck at applying it. I rarely wear it too. I just stick to BB cream.
If you had one day left to live, what would you do?
Spend every last cent I had, eat whatever I wanted, sit in the sunshine, play with LC and Andre, and makeout with Topher.
Where were you born?
What are you scared of?
Nothing. I used to be scared of clowns and needles, but I’ve managed to get over it.
What is your worst habit?
Biting my nails. My nails are thinner than paper.
If you could be anyone, who would you be?
A cat. So I’d live up to the reputation of a real princess.
Why do you read blogs?
I like reading, in general. And even more about makeup, love lives and pretty things.
In truth or dare, which do you pick?
The best moment in your life?
Meeting my dude. He is the only guy ever to give me butterflies.
Favourite part of your make up to apply?
I’m sure you’ve seen this chick on YouTube or even crossed her blog at some point. I’m talking about the ever-so-lovely Zoella.
Once again I’m mesmerised by how chic this website is. This girl not only looks amazing, but she also does some really amazing YouTube videos too. Her makeup is always done immaculately and of course, she’s nice about EVERYTHING!
It’s always nice to feature nice, happy, uplifting people. ♥
I should have done this tag earlier in September, but of course, I’ve always been a late bloomer. I copied this off Angela who made a video on it. I figured better late than never right.
1. Most worn nail polish
Lots of cool blues to suit Winter. There were a few nude nailpolishes and even some blue-toned pinks.
My favourites were Pool Boy by OCC, the rose-scented polish by BYS and La Paz-itively Hot by OPI.
2. Most worn hair product
Just hairspray and only because I am way too lazy in Winter to bother with styling my hair. I switches shampoo and conditioners a few times though.
3. Most worn bag
I absolutely wore my Forever New handbag to death. I can’t even remember what it was called, but it cost me $70 it was a pale blue leather bag and it was my absolute favourite. The lining inside didn’t last very long, if it had I’d definitely still be using it too.
4. Most worn shoes
My black ballet flats from Rubi. They’re cheap and easy to replace if they break on you. I think at one stage during the Winter I had about four of the same pair going at the one time.
5. Most worn accessories
Just the ring I wear half way down my left ring finger. It’s been something I’ve worn for a decade, why stop now?
6. Most worn clothing item
Black leggings, but I don’t wear them as pants. I wear them under everything though; dresses, skirts, long shirts. I think it should be illegal to wear black leggings as pants, don’t you agree?
7. Most worn foundation
I don’t wear foundation. Like, ever! I’ve only ever worn foundation when I was modelling, but day-to-day and even on special occasions I don’t wear anything.
8. Most worn blush and/or bronzer
I don’t wear bronzer either. But for blush, I didn’t really get into wearing it til the tail-end of Winter. I’ve been using the Australis Shoot to Thrill blush. It’s the most bold blush you will ever see but when applied correctly it’s not so bad.
9. Most worn lip product
Lip balm, by far! Particularly the EOS spheres.
10. Most worn mascara
I’ve been using the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara which is by far the best mascara I have ever used in my entire life. It’s just so hard to come by because they don’t ship to Australia.
11. Most worn eyeshadow
There have been a number of shadows I’ve been wearing, most of them have been from Urban Decay’s NAKED palette.
I’ve been using Sidecar or Half Baked on the lids (it’ll change depending on the mood I’m in), Naked in the crease, Virgin or Sin as a brow highlight (again, depends on my mood) and I comb Buck through my brows.
SOOO… I gave in and decided to check out TOPSHOP on the way home after a long day.
I honestly didn’t plan to buy anything. In fact, I walked into the store ten minutes before closing time and managed to walk out with four new makeup products.
Well, IMATS Sydney 2012 is over for another year. What a crazy weekend it was!
I decided that I wasn’t going to go mental at the show this year. Last year I spent a lot, this year – I took more than I was willing to even spend. I didn’t want to get into buying lots of makeup when I already had a tonne of it still left over from last year. If there was anything on my mind to purchase, it was going to be makeup brushes. Loads and loads of brushes. Brushes and the need to mett with other beauty bloggers and YouTubers.
Let me just say that I was a little disappointed in this year’s IMATS. I’ve been two years previous and compared to them, this year was only 1/3rd of the size.
There were a lot of brands that were listed as exhibitors but weren’t there, which was disappointing. But I did enjoy myself at the show this year and hope that it’s bigger and better next year!
Here is my rather tame IMATS haul for 2012…
About a week ago I found myself watching a morning breakfast show. I rarely watch these shows because I find that infomercials are extensively boring, you get very little laughs and the couch chatter on those shows are little or no importance to anyone’s lives.
But here I was watching one of those shows and instead of paying attention of the stories I was looking at the hosts’ makeup.
I find that I’m always doing that at the most inappropriate times. While out with a girlfriend for coffee and Eggs Benedict, she’ll make eyes with a handsome fellow and while she’s captivated by his aesthetics I’m commenting on how clean his shoes were.
One of the hosts was wearing a very simple but elegant cranberry and gold combination that day and I was instantly in love. I particularly liked this look because she was teaming it up with a bright pink lip and when you’ve done makeup for a while, it’s a rule that you have only ONE focus of your makeup look; either a bold eye and a subtle lip or vice versa.
But this look worked really well for her and I have to say if that look went well with a bright pink lip, of course I would be all over it.
So, the following day I went out and bought this…
I will admit that I haven’t always liked Emma Stone but after I watched Zombieland and Crazy, Stupid, Love I fell in love with her.
I like that she can pull off a lot of different makeup looks, all very complimentary to her hair colour and her makeup is very too overdone.
