GET INVOLVED: Boycott Guru Gossip!

This was brought to my attention today by one of my beautiful friend and fellow beauty guru Rosie – the forum/website of Guru Gossip.

For the record I will not be linking the website because I think they already receive enough attention. (And YES, I am fully aware that making a post about it is a contradiction too). But I’m sure you can find the forum yourself by some detective skilled Googling.

OK. Let me start off with saying that I can’t stand bullying. It ruins people’s self-esteem and can lead to horrible consequences such as suicide.
I grew up in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and let me tell you, the place is very tropical. A lot of the girls I went to school with were blonde-haired, blue-eyed, popular and the sporty/surfy type Sydney Sider hybrid.
Now. Refer back to me. As you can see, I am none of those things. I never was and I never will be the typical Aussie Eastern Suburbs girl, and for years in high school I was bullied because I didn’t fit that prototype the other girls were. I was singled out and outcasted til I found a group of girls who were also outcasted to be friends with.
It was only after I left high school and found my own identity that I was sent messages by these “popular” girls on Facebook they apologised for picking on me in high school because now that we were adults they realised that they didn’t really amount to much themselves.

Beauty Gurus, bloggers and YouTubers all have one passion: beauty products. We all have that one thing in common and we want to share that with each other.
And sure, I admit there are Beauty Gurus I don’t particularly like but I’m not about to go post it online publicly. As I see it, you’re not going to like everyone you see online and you’re going to like everything that they do. Keep opinions to yourself though. No one cares to hear about them, especially if they’re only negative. Constructive criticism is always welcome, but there is a fine line between telling someone they’ve done something incorrectly and just plain slagging them off.

Give it a try: Sit with a friend and just start every sentence with “I hate…” and go from there. Give or take five minutes, your friend is going to get over listening to you.

No one is asking you to like everything Beauty Gurus do and some of us do get things wrong from time to time. Such as life and such is human nature. No one is perfect and of all people on this planet – Beauty Gurus do not claim to be perfect.
But instead of just badmouthing us, how about just point out our error and let us fix it?

PLEASE STOP CYBER BULLYING! Not only with teenagers but for Beauty Gurus, bloggers and YouTubers. Let us do what we love the most and enjoy it!

Please show your support by Liking the Facebook page Girls Against Guru Gossip (GAGG), that has been created by the beautiful Wendy from The Bentley Blonde. ♥
